Leap of Faith

We were studying Phillipians 1 in our BiblePod. In v.18, we found very refreshing and freeeing Paul's view of those who preach with ulterior motives, and then, a few days later, I bumped into this DVD, a 1991 or so, Steve Martin's impersonation of an itinerant evangelist. We saw it in our BiblePod and all of us were impacted with the story. I won't spoil the DVD for those who have not seen it yet, we recommend you to see it, preferably in a group setting.

Our conclusions were along the lines that, there is God's ways and our ways, and even when our ways go against God, He uses them to do what he wants. That is exactly the message Paul gives in 1:18, that no matter what the circumstances are, or the alternative plans or motives of others, even if their God is a G_d, Paul chose to rejoice knowing that God is in control, and because the name of Jesus Christ is being proclaimed anyway. In other words: we can't thwart God's plan to make Jesus the centre of existence. We can't stop his desire that the name of Jesus Christ be known by all, one way or another.

So get your popcorn and drinks, and enjoy a story of grace beyond our limitations.
